Ein Beitrag der RS Aero Jugend
Am Wochenende vom 27.-30. Oktober hat uns die Lega Navale Sulcis in Cagliari auf Sardinien willkommen geheißen. Nach langen Flügen mit vielen Wartezeiten und Umbuchungen kamen wir am Donnerstagnachmittag, bzw. -abend endlich im THotel an.
Wir bezogen die Zimmer und gingen hoch in die wunderschöne Altstadt. Am Freitagmorgen lernten wir beim Frühstück das andere deutsche Team aus NRW vom KSC Hemer Sorpesee kennen.
Nach dem Frühstück ging es mit kleinen Bussen runter zu den Häfen zum Verein. Die Gastfreundlichkeit und die gute Organisation von Unterkunft, Verpflegung, Transport und den Charterbooten hat uns viel Mühe erspart und einen sehr angenehmen Aufenthalt geboten.
Am Freitagnachmittag ging es dann für uns zum ersten Mal aufs Wasser in der Bucht „Marina de Cagliari“ vor den Hallen der Luna Rossa, wo auch unser Regattagebiet war. Bei leichtem Wind sind wir dann die ersten Trainingsrennen gegen die anderen Nationen gefahren, aber noch nicht als Team, bevor wir dann zum Abendessen in den „Aquila Club“ eingekehrt sind, wo es ein sehr leckeres Willkommensbuffett mit köstlichen italienischen Speisen und Getränken gab.
Am Samstag folgte eine längere Startverschiebung an Land, in der wir mit einigen anderen Teams „Wer bin ich?“ auf Englisch zum Zeitvertreib spielten. Der Wind baute sich dann tatsächlich auf und gegen 14 Uhr konnten die ersten Rennen gestartet werden. Mit uns hat sich auch die Luna Rossa zum Ablegen bereitgemacht und wir konnten ihren Weg aufs Meer verfolgen. Zum Abend hin schlief der Wind immer weiter ein (dafür schwammen Delfine neben unseren Booten!) und nach 47 spannenden Rennen mit vielen Protesten wurde der Tag beendet und wir sind zurück ins Hotel gefahren, wo ein gemeinsames Abendessen stattfand. Der Abend klang dann individuell aus, aber viele gingen nach dem langen Tag auf dem Wasser früh zu Bett.
Der Sonntag begann wieder mit einer Startverschiebung, aber deutlich kürzer. Ab Mittag wurden dann noch die ausstehenden Läufe von Samstag gesegelt, bevor im Semifinale und Finale dann das Gewinnerteam ausgesegelt wurde. Dafür ist das zu diesem Zeitpunkt erstplatzierte Team gegen das drittplatzierte Team und das zweitplatzierte Team gegen das viertplazierte Team im direkten Vergleich angetreten. Die beiden „Top of three“ des Semifinales sind dann im Finale über fünf Läufe gegeneinander angetreten, wobei sich schließlich das englische Team GBR 2 gegen Schweden durchsetzen konnte. Den dritten Platz hat GBR 1 belegt und das lettische Team rutschte leider vom ersten Platz auf den vierten.
Ein besonderen Dank an dieser Stelle nochmal an den ausrichtenden Verein und allen anderen Helfern für die Organisation und Finanzierung dieses Events.
Wir konnten als GER 2 den zehnten Platz belegen und GER 1 konnte mit dem zwölften Platz nach Hause fahren. Am Abend fand dann die Siegerehrung im Verein statt mit anschließendem Grillen. Danach haben wir noch eine weitere Nacht im Hotel verbracht und haben uns am Montag in der Früh auf den Heimweg gemacht. Es war ein tolles Event und eine ausgesprochen gute Organisation, die uns ein sehr schönes Wochenende möglich gemacht hat. Wir kommen gerne wieder und nochmal mille grazie!

On the weekend of 27-30 October, the Lega Navale Sulcis welcomed us to Cagliari in Sardinia. After long flights with many waiting times and rebookings, we finally arrived at the THotel on Thursday afternoon or evening.
We checked into our rooms and went up to the beautiful old town. On Friday morning, we met the other German team from NRW from KSC Hemer Sorpesee at breakfast.
After breakfast, we went down to the harbours to the club in small buses. The hospitality and good organisation of accommodation, food, transport and the charter boats saved us a lot of trouble and made for a very pleasant stay.
On Friday afternoon we went out on the water for the first time in the bay „Marina de Cagliari“ in front of the homer of the Luna Rossa, where our regatta area was set up. With light winds, we then sailed the first training races against the other nations, but not yet as a team, before going to the „Aquila Club“ for dinner, where we had a very tasty welcome buffet with delicious Italian food and drinks.
Saturday was followed by a longer launch delay ashore, during which we played „Who am I?“ in English with some other teams to pass the time. The wind then actually built up and around 2pm the first races could be started. With us, the Luna Rossa also got ready to leave and we could follow her way out to sea. Towards evening, the wind died down more and more (but dolphins swam next to our boats!) and after 47 exciting races with many protests, the day ended and we went back to the hotel, where we had dinner together. The evening then ended individually, but many went to bed early after the long day on the water.
Sunday started again with a postponed start, but much shorter. From noon onwards, the remaining races from Saturday were sailed before the winning team was determined in the semi finals and finals. For this, the first-placed team at this point competed against the third-placed team and the second-placed team against the fourth-placed team in a direct comparison. The two „top of three“ from the semi-finals then competed against each other in the final over five heats, with the English team GBR 2 finally coming out on top against Sweden. Third place went to GBR 1 and the Latvian team unfortunately slipped from first place to fourth.
Special thanks again to the organising club and all the other helpers for organising and funding this event.
We were able to take tenth place as GER 2 and GER 1 was able to go home with twelfth place. In the evening, the award ceremony took place at the club followed by a barbecue. Afterwards we spent another night in the hotel and left for home early on Monday. It was a great event and extremely well organised, which made it possible for us to have a very nice weekend. We will be happy to come back and once again mille grazie!
